Tenerife One off seven main Canary islands situated just off the north african coast Tenerife is the largest and a automonis region of Spain  one of the first to be hit by mass tourisim it boast dramatic volcanic landscape as well as some fine beaches ancient towns and villages. The island has a history stretching back through the ages when it was formed by a volcanic eruption with tempretures averaging 20 degrees to 25 degrees all year round it was inevitable that it would become a favorite all year round tourist destination. Tenerife has an area of 7,446 square kilometers and a population of 1,968,s80(2005) the currency is the euro The main resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas are located in the dryer south of the island and with a number of smaller resort make this the main tourist area in the north there is Puerto del a Cruise. The capital of Tenerife is Santa Cruise the old capital of La Laguna is worth a visit with many fine buildings and many more such as Masca known as the hidden village. On arrival to Tenerife as you descend to Renia Sofia you cant help but notice Pico del Teide as it dominates the landscape it sit in the middle of the national park and a trip on the cable car to the summit is a must on a clear day you can see the surrounding Canary island so when you are in Tenerife be sure to get out and about there a lot more to Tenerife than Las Americas.
